A 22-year-old Logan man who drove twice on a disqualified licence, once under the influence of drugs and another time in a stolen car, has run out of chances.

A young Logan meth addict has been handed another period of actual jail-time for driving disqualified in a stolen car just six months after he was released from his last stint in the slammer.

Crestmead man Jesse James Clifford-Marsh, 22, was warned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday that he would “lose your life to drugs” if he didn’t change his ways, after spending much of his adult life in custody.

Clifford-Marsh pleaded guilty to four offences: two counts of driving while disqualified by a court order and one count each of drug driving and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He pleaded guilty to all charges, which were committed at Woodridge and elsewhere.

The first charges stem from May 22 this year, when he was found driving with methylamphetamine (ice) in his system, while the stolen car joy-ride occurred just weeks afterwards on June 15, the court heard.

He was arrested on this date, having run out of chances.

All four offences were committed while on parole, Clifford-Marsh having been released from his last custodial stint in April this year.

Despite offending only two months after his release, the court heard he had made a “genuine attempt” at rehabilitation.

Magistrate Clare Kelly offered the young recalcitrant some words of advice.

“You are going to battle the drug addiction all your life,” she said.

“You could lose your life to drugs or the ravages of drugs.

“But you have the support of your family.”

She also observed that with a traffic record such as his, “You strike me as someone that just needs to stay away from the driver’s side of a car.”

Clifford-Marsh was sentenced to 18 months’ jail, with immediate parole eligibility.

He was also disqualified from driving for four years and three months, to be cumulative on his existing, lengthy disqualifications.
