THERE are so many people working hard to ensure Redcliffe and Deception Bay are not only great places to live in today, but in the future.
Many influential people call Redcliffe and Deception Bay home — including our Moreton Bay Regional Council mayor, state Attorney-General, councillors and federal and state representatives.
Sure our politicians and councillors work hard to secure funding for major projects such as Dolphin Stadium and the Redcliffe Peninsula Line and have the final say on what developments get approved — but what about the community members who dedicated hundreds of hours lobbying the politicians?
Or the community members who just get in and get the job done themselves.
The Redcliffe & Bayside Herald, with the help of some judges, has put together a list of Redcliffe’s 30 most influential people — The Redcliffe Power 30.
The list will shine the spotlight on community members who work hard behind the scenes to shape our great suburbs.
We’ll reveal five people every day until the top spot is announced on Monday, November 5.

30. Bob Crudgington
President of the Redcliffe Environmental Forum, Bob Crudgington, has helped many green projects come together including planting trees and revitalising the Hays Inlet area and lobbing for funding for an eco path boardwalk around Hays Inlet.
29. Sammy Hunt
Zonta Redcliffe treasurer and former president Sammy Hunt has worked hard to raise awareness and help those affected by Domestic and Family Violence. The club lobbied for funding to hang help signs in the women’s public bathrooms across the Peninsula. The group also offers scholarships to help mature age students.
28. Beris Pritchard OAM
President of Quota International of Redcliffe Beris Pritchard OAM is the group’s longest serving member, joining in 1973. She has held numerous roles including international director. The former Clontarf Beach State High School teacher, who spent a year teaching on Nauru, has helped the club raise money for Quota Place at Woody Point, a sensory garden at the Redcliffe Botanic Gardens and supported organisations such as Meals on Wheels, Cartmill Riding for the Disabled, the Hear and Say Centre and Hummingbird House. The group also runs programs to promote children’s reading and women’s rights. She has also worked closely on projects to better the lives of those living in poverty in India.
27. Captain Kerry Lopez
Brisbane Whale Watching, with Captain Kerry Lopez, at the helm draws 12,000 visitors to the Redcliffe Peninsula each whale season. She is the only woman captain operating a whale watching venture in the South Pacific Rim. The businesswoman is dedicated to the protection of whales, marine life and the environment.
26. Dan Nebe
Rockin 4 the Homeless, an annual charity event held in Redcliffe, would not have tens of thousands of dollars it has since its introduction in 2014 without the help of Dan Nebe. The musician, who has been nominated for a 2018 Pride of Australia Medal dedicates hundreds of hours to organising the charity concert. Through his connections in the music industry he has secured some huge headline acts for the concerts including Angry Anderson and Hoodoo Gurus Unplugged. He also volunteers on a regular basis at The Breakfast Club of Redcliffe. He took part in a three-night sleep out on Redcliffe streets earlier this year. Mr Nebe also does a lot of work to support local musicians and bands.
