A Logan woman has pleaded guilty to serious assault of a person over 60 after she blamed her victim, a former friend, for getting her husband kicked out of an RSL during a boozy New Year’s Eve celebration.
Eagleby woman Holly Elizabeth Jamieson (nee Argall), 40, assaulted her 71-year-old friend at the Beenleigh RSL about 1am on January 1 this year.

Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday heard Jamieson, her husband and some other friends were drinking heavily during the celebration.
Prior to the assault, Jamieson and her friend had had a verbal disagreement after Jamieson’s husband was ejected from the pub, which Jamieson blamed on something her friend had said to a security guard or employee of the club.
She exacted her revenge on the woman by grabbing her by the hair and yanking her to the ground, which was captured by a CCTV camera.
This was Jamieson’s first ever criminal offence.
The matter was initially set for hearing, with up to eight witnesses to be called, but it was changed to a guilty plea at the eleventh hour, although Jamieson still got credit for a timely plea.
A character reference from Jamieson’s mother was read onto the record, in which she said Jamieson was a “loving, caring mother and daughter who would rather walk away from conflict than engage in it”.
Magistrate Michael O’Driscoll was persuaded this was an out-of-character lapse on Jamieson’s behalf.
He placed her on a $1000 good-behaviour bond and ordered her to pay her victim $500 compensation.
No conviction was recorded.
