Thirty-five thousand people were expected to descend on the Brisbane Showgrounds over the next two weekends for Brisbane Oktoberfest 2022.
Attendees will enjoy and participate in keg racing, tug of war and stein holding in the Bavarian Strongman competition, as well as pretzel eating, milking cows and more in the Miss Oktoberfest competition.
Not forgetting the amazing german food and locally brewed German beer from Burleigh Brewing.
Like any festival, fashion takes centre stage and many put great effort into their traditional German outfits.
The Festival Directors are a German/Australian married couple, Kim and Boris Zoulek.
They met at Oktoberfest Brisbane in 2005 and are now married with two kids.
The Wopertinger, Oompah Band, a homegrown band from Melbourne will play on the main stage in the 4000sqm Oktoberfest Tent every day of the event.
Oktoberfest started in 1810 as the marriage celebration of King Louis I to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen and has progressed to a celebration of German culture.
Brisbane Oktoberfest will run October 14-16, 12pm-midnight on Friday and Saturday and 12pm-8pm on Sunday.
