A former model has been sentenced to one year’s prison after being convicted of possessing a sawn-off .22 calibre rifle.

Hannah Renae Page was also sentenced to three months’ jail for possessing property believed to be linked to drug trafficking including four mobile phones, three designer watches, fake ID and fake registration plates.

She was convicted but not further punished for possession of a gun laser sight.

The sentences were to be served concurrently with a head sentence of one year for two counts of possessing a shortened firearm.

Richlands Magistrate Stuart Shearer set a parole release date of May 21, meaning Page would be separated from her children for Christmas.

Page’s barrister, Penny White, argued the case was circumstantial as no gun was ever found and the only proof was video on a mobile phone showing her client firing the gun out the window.

Other video on the phone also showed Page’s boyfriend Moses Amaya, who has been remanded in custody on firearms and other charges, appearing to pose with the .22 calibre rifle at the Mt Coot-tha Summit, Brisbane’s most visited tourist spot.

Page had pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Ms White had argued the device in the video could easily have been a harmless gel blaster.

Mr Shearer ruled that the prosecution had not proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the weapon was used in a public place.

Police had alleged the video showed she fired the shotgun out the window of a car her boyfriend was driving back down from Mt Coot-tha Lookout, in Brisbane inner-west.

Snr-Constable Nicholas Collins earlier told the court he conducted a search on a Doolandella property, where associates of Page were detained.

He found 110g of methampethamine, three electronic scales, 260 rounds of ammunition, a loaded sawn-off bolt action rifle concealed in a cushion, a laser scope and four mobile phones.

He told the court he also discovered a distinctive DKNY beanie he said bore a “striking resemblance’’ to the one worn in the shooting video by Page.

The search uncovered a pair of sunglasses similar to those worn by Page in the video, he said.
