Eight of our worst drivers taken off the roads

From obstructing police to speeding, drug driving and ignoring police, these are some of sentences handed down this morning in Holland Park Magistrates Court.

A TRUCKIE who assaulted a person and a woman who refused to obey police instructions were amongst those sentenced in the local court this morning.

Most of the matters dealt with by Holland Park Magistrates Court were driving under the influence charges with eight errant motorists punished for bad behaviour on our roads.

Truckie Greg Richard Sweaney was given a six-month jail sentence, wholly suspended for one year. A conviction was recorded after pleading guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm on December 28, 2016.

Jose Crispen Paunovic was ordered to complete 60 hours of community service over six months after pleading guilty to trespass and unauthorised dealing with shop goods. He did a drive-off at a Caltex service station on March 27.

Kyungsub Choi was disqualified for a month and fined $400, but no conviction was recorded. Choi pleaded guilty to driving while his licence was suspended due to non-payment of a SPER fine debt. he was pulled over on Warrigal Rd, Runcorn on March 23.

Emilly Nicole May was fined $500, disqualified from driving for three months and had no conviction recorded after pleading guilty to driving with a relevant drug in her system (cannabis). She was pulled over on Mains Rd, Upper Mt Gravatt, on May 13.

Ariate Khalil Lombe pleaded guilty to driving while her licence was disqualified by court order. She was pulled over at a Bunnings store on Wecker Rd, Mansfield, on March 16. She was disqualified for two years, fined $900 and a conviction was recorded.

Spraypainter Harley Michael Barry Gray pleaded guilty to driving over the general alcohol limit. He was recorded with a blood alcohol reading of 0.082 after being pulled over for a roadside breath test at Benaud St, Macgregor, on March 13. He was fined $350, disqualified for two months and a conviction was recorded.

Louis Francis Matheson pleaded guilty to failing to keep a restricted drug in his possession until used, possessing a straw (suspected of use in a drug offence), possessing dangerous drugs (0.72g methamphetamine) and contravening a police direction after being searched by police at New Farm on March 11 and after being pulled over on his motorbike on Kessels Rd on March 13. He was disqualified from driving for two months and ordered to serve six months’ probation but no conviction was recorded.

Jade Evelyn Katarina Davies pleaded guilty to driving without ever having held a licence, driving an uninsured and an unregistered car, and driving a car with false license plates after being questioned by police at Gainsborough St, Moorooka, on March 23, and after being pulled over at Henson Rd, Salisbury on March 26. She was fined $2000 and disqualified from driving for three months but no convictions were recorded.

Bricklayer Shaurn William Wells pleaded guilty to driving with a relevant drug in his system (methamphetamine) at Regency Downs on February 10. He was fined $500, disqualified from driving for three months and a conviction was recorded.

Charles Velasquez was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for three months but no conviction was recorded after he pleaded guilty to driving on Boundary Rd, Coopers Plains, on June 7, despite never having held a licence.
