A LOGAN woman whose ex-partner stole a golf buggy from a retirement home and “gifted” it to her, at which point she painted it with her children as a holiday “project” together, has been fined $800 in court today.
Eagleby single mother-of-two Sharni Lyn Lipscombe, 27, was told in court today to be more “careful” about her choice of boyfriends after a search warrant on her property earlier this year also revealed a rifle belong to the man.

The court heard the first search warrant was executed on the property on March 27 this year. Police discovered digital scales, clip sealed bags, marijuana seeds, a bong and glass pipe, as well as her ex-partner’s rifle, which was helpfully pointed out by the woman’s four-year-old son.
Another search warrant was executed on her property on May 8, after reports a golf buggy stolen from a nearby retirement village sometime between February 21 – 24 this year was clearly visible in the carport.
Police prosecutor Tim Wise told the court the buggy had suffered extensive damage, including to its roof canopy and mirrors, and that it had been partially “spray-painted” by Lipscombe and her children as a “project” to share in together.
She is charged that she ought have known the vehicle was stolen and made no efforts to verify its origins.
Magistrate Clare Kelly told Lipscombe she be more “careful” in her future choice of partner, as her ex-boyfriend was clearly a negative influence. Convictions were not recorded.
