Learner drivers can book for their test after the COVID-19 backlog of previously booked driving examinations was cleared, following an epic effort by driving examiners.
All practical driving tests were suspended from March 28 to limit the spread of COVID-19 and comply with social distancing recommendations.
Transport Minister Mark Bailey said bookings for practical tests for Queensland’s learner drivers resumed earlier this week.
“Because we’ve managed the health impacts of the coronavirus well, we are focused on economic recovery now too including by recommencing and ramping up practical driving tests,’’ Mr Bailey said.
“As with the priority bookings over the last month, TMR will implement mandatory screening questions, vehicle cleaning requirements and reinforcement of health and hygiene measures.
“Thanks to all the learner drivers across Queensland for their patience and understanding while tests have been suspended and while TMR has cleared the backlog of tests.’’
Bookings will initially only be available by phone on 13 23 80, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm, so officials can answer questions.
