QUEENSLAND’S largest pet adoption day will be held this month with hundreds of rescue dogs and cats under one roof in Brisbane.
The RSPCA’s annual Big Adopt Out is being held at the RNA showgrounds on September 15.
RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Michael Beatty said there will be almost 300 animals looking for homes, with the RSPCA and 20 other rescue groups at the event.
“This will be the largest variety of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens in Queensland in one place at one time,” Mr Beatty said.
“At the Big Adopt Out you’ll get the best information from people who understand the breeds and their needs so if you’re thinking about adopting a pet, this is the place to start.”
The event will feature a dog and cat pavilion, food trucks and pet products with
adoption fees starting at $49.
Mr Beatty said RSPCA Queensland works with more than 100 rescue groups.
“Many animals are rehomed through this vital partnership and the Big Adopt Out has been very successful in finding animals homes,” Mr Beatty said.
If you plan to adopt on the day, bring along photo ID and a rental agreement noting pets are allowed, if it is applicable. To save time on the day, you can register a pet ownership application ahead online at the Big Adopt Out website.
If you are looking for a companion for your dog, you can bring your pooch along to the event. There will be a dog minding area where Paws and Relax will take care of your dog while you browse for another canine companion. Then you can all have a meet and greet to see if they are a match.
The event is on from 9am to 2pm at The Marquee in the showgrounds.
