Increasingly, first-home buyers are looking to satellite cities like Redlands, Ipswich and Logan to snap up an affordable home, but look hard enough and there’s still bargains to be had on Brisbane’s southside.
Here are seven stand-alone houses, all with three bedrooms, that you can snap up today for $400,000 or less.
1) 37 Rocklea St, Archerfield: $339,000
This lowset three bedroom house is located just off Beatty Rd, on a 556 sqm block.
With established gardens and small porches to the front and back, the property is marketed by Ray White Eight Mile Plains’ Lachlan Smith as “perfect for a small family with big ideas”.
In addition to this, the house also has freshly laid carpet throughout most rooms, an insulated Colorbond roof and a single-space lockup garage.

2) 16 St Patrick Ave, Kuraby: $339,000
Located 500m away from both Kuraby State School and Kuraby Special School – and about 750m away from Kuraby Railway Station – this lowset three-bedroom house is located on a 405 sqm block.
According to Runcorn Realty’s Olive King, there is an airconditioned lounge, recently renovated kitchen, polished timber floors, and two of the three bedrooms have ceiling fans.

Ms King said the property could fetch about $340 rent per week.

Just around the corner from St Patrick Ave (#2 on our list), this lowset house has “excellent tenants” in place for the investor or is well-suited to the first homebuyer, agent Lachlan Smith of Ray White Eight Mile Plains says.
The three-bedroom house has a study, a fully fenced yard with a carport and an undercover patio/deck area at the front of the house.
St Andrew St is a short walk from bus services and less than 10 minutes by foot to Kuraby Railway Station.
It is located in the Kuraby State School catchment.
7) 1310 Beaudesert Road, Acacia Ridge: $400,000
According to Fab Real Estate’s Howard Groos, “This is the perfect first home, rental investment property or ideal business address with great street frontage.”
This three-bedroom house is located on a 773 sqm, fully fenced block, and has ceiling fans in all bedrooms and the lounge room, as well as airconditioning in the master bedroom.
The property also contains a double garage/shed, security screens and a covered rear deck.
