A Brisbane clinic which helped more than 10,000 people lose weight has closed its doors owing more than half-a-million dollars to creditors, liquidators say.

Milton’s A.C.N. 633 206 818 Pty Ltd, formerly known as Lifeshape Health Pty Ltd, applied for voluntary liquidation recently.

Over its 25 years the former Telstra business award winner expanded to locations in Sydney and Melbourne.

It’s website said it helped “more than 10,000 Australians lose over 100,000 kg across the eastern seaboard.

Appointed liquidator Jason Bettles, from Worrells, confirmed Lifeshape ceased trading in April.

An Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) Report on Company Activities and Properties stated that $307,430 was owed to employees in the form of wages, annual leave, long service leave and superannuation.

The ASIC report also revealed $680,462.88 was owed to creditors including $205,991.00 to the Australian Taxation Office, $228,362.91 to real estate company Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL), $69,865.92 to Oltra Pty Ltd and $47,484.45 to business IT support company, GZD Pty Ltd.

Lifeshape’s website confirmed it had closed its Milton office but did not say why.

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to continue our lease at our current head office location in Milton,’’ it said.

“As a result, we will be moving to a new location in the near future.”

Lifeshape posted on Facebook in March that it was celebrating 25 years in business.

“Over the years, we’ve seen incredible growth and transformation,’’ it said.

“We’ve changed our name, moved locations and even weathered some storms (literally).

“Through it all, our commitment to you has remained steadfast.

“We are proud to have opened clinics in three states, introduced state-of-the-art DEXA technology at our Milton clinic and hosted cooking demos and workshops with world-class chefs.”
