This year has been one most don’t want to remember, but our Year 12s have been determined not to allow coronavirus to stop them celebrating their much-anticipated school formals.
Some, such as Marist College Ashgrove, were lucky enough to get in before lockdown.
Others had to be rescheduled and reimagined.

The 2020 crop of Brisbane Boys’ College Year 12s, partners and friends celebrated their formal in style on September 5. It was a sparkling, joy-filled night.

A scramble to prepare a dancefloor, music and find a DJ, were some of the last-minute jobs left to teachers at Cleveland High when a ban on dancing was lifted two hours before the formal.

Eddie the Eagle turned up in a Monaro but glamour and style were key when Loganlea State High School students attended the formal they never thought would happen.

Mabel Park State High School year 12 students went on a Magical Mystery Tour between Brisbane and the Gold Coast after a night of good food and dancing at Grand Chancellor Hotel for their formal dinner.

It has been a year like no other for the Mary Mackillop College graduating class of 2020, who celebrated the end of an era with an evening to remember at the Blackbird Bar & Grill. Students wowed in sparkling gowns, flower crowns and sharp suits at their senior formal on Wednesday, November 18.
QUEENSLAND ACADEMY FOR SCIENCE MATHEMATICS AND TECHNOLOGY
After much planning and several cancellations, the 240 Year 12 students finally enjoyed their formal on September 17 at Warner Bros Movie World. The memorable evening was filled with glamour, laughter and fun as the cohort enjoyed rides and a magician.

It was the glittering highlight to a tumultuous school year for the Year 12 students at St Joseph’s Nudgee College, who celebrated their senior formal in jaw-dropping style with acrobats and magicians.

Students were all smiles at the St John’s Anglican College formal, grateful for the chance to celebrate the milestone after a year of great uncertainty and change.
The formal was held at Hillstone St Lucia on Monday 21 and livestreamed to friends and family to ensure no one missed the glitz and glamour of the arrivals, even with new COVID-safe measures.
