Meet the Brisbane duo behind the instant coffee blends that claim to improve health, wellbeing and performance.
Teneriffe-based mates Jaryd Terkelsen, 31, and Ash Bisset, 32, launched Beforeyouspeak Coffee in 2017 after creating what they believed was the perfect “superfood” infused cuppa at home.
Their range is now stocked in 1000 stores across Australia, the US, New Zealand, Singapore and soon Canada.
“We used to consume a lot of coffee … and with our busy schedules that were mentally and physically demanding the standard cup of coffee just wasn’t cutting it,” Mr Terkelsen said of the advent of the company.
“We wanted added performance benefits so we could operate at a higher level for longer so we started mixing different ingredients into our coffee at home.”

Soon, they had their One OG blend — instant Colombian coffee infused with turmeric, MCT oil, Siberian ginseng, green coffee bean extract, black pepper and stevia — and were ready to share it with the world.
“At first the product really resonated with the fitness community,” Mr Terkelsen said.
He said the blend gave drinkers a “longer lasting energy hit without the crash”, reduced hunger cravings and had anti-inflammatory properties.
One look at the brand’s Instagram, which has 67,000 followers, and it’s obvious the young and fitness focused were its target market.
Its feed is filled with photos of Instagram influencers sipping Beforeyouspeak Coffee with their flawless bikini bodies and buff physiques on show.
“The OG every morning. Can’t function without it,” comments one fan.
“(I start my morning) with a walk or gym, then my OG glow collagen. I craaaaave it when I wake up,” writes another.
The brand solidified its popularity within this community when it launched a collagen-infused product in 2018 which allowed it to enter into the beauty space.
“Our Glow collagen coffee is all about improving the health of hair, skin and nails with the inclusion of ingredients like collagen, silica, biotin and proline.”
And supposedly the dairy and sugar free blend tastes good too.
“The combination of ingredients with the added MCT, curcumin and black pepper give it a smooth flavour with a bit of a spicy aftertaste,” Mr Terkelsen said.
The latest offering from the young entrepreneurs is a ready-to-drink range of cold pressed coffees launched this month.
It is infused with MCT oil, Siberian ginseng, green coffee bean extract, turmeric and black pepper “to help you get the most out of every cup”.
“We are using a new cold press technology for our coffee which is different from cold brew and is relatively new to the market,” Mr Terkelsen said.
“Cold press coffee yields a greater number of compounds in the liquid concentrate, meaning there is an explosion of flavour while having unparalleled smoothness.”
The duo said despite the changes to the businesses brought on by COVID-19 restrictions, they were keen to release another four or five new ranges by the end of the year.
“We have been affected (by the coronavirus) in a number of ways, some positive, some negative,” Mr Terkelsen said.
“With the closure of a lot of cafes, we have seen an increase in people shopping online.
“We’re grateful coffee is still deemed essential by many in their daily routines.”
