A Sunshine Coast woman has been jailed for six-and-a-half years for running a wholesale methamphetamine racket over two periods, and being involved in a gunpoint robbery where a victim was stabbed.

Mountain Creek woman Anikee Doreen Judy Sarre, 25, a former childcare worker of five years, pleaded guilty in Brisbane Supreme Court on Wednesday to a variety of offences.

They included two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug, possessing a commercial quantity of a drug, meth, armed robbery in company, and assault occasioning bodily harm.

The court heard Sarre trafficked meth over two occasions, from October 1 to December 2, 2018; and from March 3 to July 18, 2019.

During the first period of trafficking, she was located with a quantity of drugs and cash, charges which were dealt with in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on March 3, 2019.

A subsequent search during this period also located Sarre in possession of tick sheets, indicated a customer base of about 30 and a debt owing of about $50,000.

Several drug transactions were revealed by analysis of her mobile phone.

The second, longer and larger trafficking operation, saw again about 30 customers who were provided with a variety of drugs, mainly meth, the court heard.

Customers were supplied in amounts of between a “half-ball” up to an ounce, and Sarre hired a person to assist in her operation.

Crown prosecutor Carla Ahern told the court there was “evidence Sarre regularly purchased from her supplier” and in an intercepted message on June 19, 2019, she bragged to a customer she had sold five ounces of meth in an hour.

At the time of her arrest, she was discovered in possession of 57g of pure meth, a variety of the other drugs, and a quantity of cash.

Ms Ahern told the court it was “difficult” to ascertain the full extent of Sarre’s operation.

Sarre was remanded into pre-sentence custody on March 24, 2020, and released on May 5, but barely weeks later, was involved in an armed robbery in company with a minor at a rural location near Nambour.

She and the principal offender, a juvenile, were in a vehicle with the victim in the matter when the juvenile produced a rifle and demanded property.

A struggle ensued, in which a shot was fired, although it didn’t strike the victim.

However, the juvenile offender, who has been dealt with by the courts, stabbed the victim in the arm and then Sarre assaulted them, causing bodily harm.

Sarre’s bail was revoked on May 22 and she has spent the intervening period remanded in pre-sentence custody, a total of 405 days, taking into account her earlier, shorter period on remand.

Defence counsel Douglas Wilson told the court his client had a significant meth and GHB (i.e. fantasy) addiction which drove her offending, consuming up to a quarter ounce of ice per week.

He said she had a disruptive childhood, acting as full-time career for her mother, who became a quadriplegic when she was aged six.

Sarre, who he described as intelligent and articulate, lost her job as a childcare worker when she was introduced to drugs, Mr Wilson said.

Justice Thomas Bradley sentenced Sarre to six-and-a-half years’ imprisonment and granted her immediate parole eligibility.
