There will be 180 teams taking part representing 21 different nations including, for the first time, teams from different regions of New Zealand.

3PTAG is a non-contact version of rugby league which was founded by former Marsden SHS teacher Matt Hartigan, and his wife Teaghan. Teaghan is the captain of the Fiji Bulikula side this weekend against Cook Islands.

“Our mission remains - create an environment that celebrates culture and builds cultural connections. We believe sport and food are the perfect tools to bring people together,” Matt Hartigan said.

“This isn’t just a tournament; it’s a celebration of athleticism, culture, sportsmanship and the unbridled spirit of competition.’’

He said the rules were designed to aid the development of aspiring NRL and NRLW players players.

Now in its fourth year, the event has the full support of Logan Mayor Jon Raven.

“3Ptag is an exciting form of the game that Logan has embraced as its own,’’ Mayor Raven said.

Aside from being rubber stamped by Mayor Raven, the Queensland Department of Tourism & Sport has joined Logan City Council in supporting the event.
