Want to make some money for your struggling community group? Here are some council grant ideas that could do the trick.

Brisbane City Council has a number of community grant programs opening in the coming weeks to help fund local non-profit community groups and other interested parties.

Details are available on Council’s Grants and Awards web page.

Community grants information sessions will also be held, from July 23-25, to help residents and groups develop their submission and to find out more information about the grants.

Creative Lighting Grant Scheme — assists property owners with funding to deliver creative lighting outcomes for their buildings and assets as part of the City of Lights Strategy 2018. Applications for 2019-20 are now open.

Heritage Incentives Scheme — provides property owners with advice and some financial assistance to conserve heritage listed properties.

Community Support Funding Program — offers financial assistance to community groups facing financial hardships and providers of affordable housing in Brisbane. Opens Monday 8 July and closes Monday 19 August.

Access and Inclusion Community Partnership Program — supports projects that improve access and inclusion for those with a disability or impairment, seniors, and parents with young children. Opens Monday 15 July and closes Monday 9 September.

Brisbane History Grants — aims to increase the community’s access and appreciation of Brisbane’s history and heritage. Open to community history groups and historians. Opens open on Monday 15 July and closes Monday 19 August.

Building Stronger Communities Grant Program — provides funding to community-based, not-for-profit organisations to deliver projects that develop or improve their facilities, or improve their governance and long term organisational sustainability. Opens Monday 15 July and closes Monday 9 September.

Community Development and Capacity Building Grants — provides funding to local not-for-profit groups to improve and develop services that respond to local and citywide issues in Brisbane. Opens Monday 15 July and closes Monday 2 September.

Healthy and Physical Activity Grants — provides funds to local non-for-profit community groups for projects to increase participation in community sport, recreation and physical activity in Brisbane. Opens Monday 15 July and closes Monday 2 September.

Men’s Shed Grants Program — supports the establishment and development of Men’s Sheds in Brisbane. Opens Monday 15 July and closes Monday 26 August.

Cultivating Community Gardens — provides funding to local non-profit community groups and organisations to establish, develop and maintain community gardens on Council-owned and other land. Opens on Monday 29 July.

Native Wildlife Carers Grant — provides financial assistance to groups and individuals involved in rehabilitating and releasing orphaned, sick and injured native wildlife originating from within the Brisbane City Council area. Opens on Monday 29 July.

Seniors Celebration Donation Grant — supports senior citizens’ groups towards the cost of activities such as social outings and Christmas parties. Opens Monday 5 August and closes on Monday 30 September.
