Two new schools will open in South East Queensland for the start of Term 1 next year.

Corymbia State School will open at Park Ridge for Prep to Year 6 students and Collingwood Park State Secondary at Ipswich for Year 7 and Year 8 students.

Ben Jack has been announced as principal of the Ipswich facility, while Nicole Morris will be the inaugural principal at Corymbia.

The consultation process for school logos, uniform designs and school colours is yet to begin.

Education Minister Di Farmer said the new facilities would bring the total number of schools opened in Queensland since 2015 to 29.

“Investing in schools and education is investing in our future,” she said.

“I want to thank everyone who has been involved in the consultation for the new names and all the great work that has gone into the planning and construction of Collingwood Park State High School and Corymbia State School.”
