Griffith University is on a recruitment blitz for 100 more academics as it moves closer to confirming the site of its new Brisbane campus.

Four buildings have been short-listed for Griffith’s CBD campus, with a final decision due by the end of the year. The university has confirmed the Myer Centre is not one of the options.

The new campus will cater for about 7500 students and 400 staff when it opens in 2027, with a focus on Business, Law and ICT courses, as well as the Griffith English Language Institute and Griffith College.

Construction of a nine-storey ‘new arrivals’ building at Griffith’s Nathan campus on Brisbane’s southside is also underway, and will accommodate staff and students from its Mount Gravatt facility when it closes at the end of 2025.

The new campus in the heart of Brisbane’s city, along with footprints at Nathan and the Gold Coast, forms part of a major growth plan for the university, which marks 50 years in 2025.

It is has just launched a recruitment drive, with the first batch of a planned 100 new academic positions now being advertised.

Vice Chancellor and president, Professor Carolyn Evans, said Griffith wanted the best and brightest early and mid-career researchers to take up ongoing positions.

“We have the maturity, the comprehensiveness and the deep roots that allow us to do first-rate research, but we’re still young enough to be agile, ambitious and an exciting place to work,” she said.

“This is a serious investment in our future and I invite Level C and B academics from across many of the disciplines at the university to make their career here at Griffith.

“Our university has great momentum now, making it an exciting time to be here on campus.”
