We’ve crunched the numbers to reveal which schools in southwest Queensland are performing the best when it comes to NAPLAN. See the full list.

NAPLAN minimum standards increased as program undergoes changes

An independent analysis of newly-released 2022 NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests.

Border Rivers Christian College, in Goondiwindi, had better primary results than any other school in South West Queensland, scoring an average of 542.8 across the five test subjects.

Chinchilla Christian College in Chinchilla was the second best for the region with an average score of 507.6, while St Monica’s School in Oakey was the third best with an average score of 500.4.

The top performing secondary school was St Mary’s School, in Goondiwindi, with the average result was 578.0.

Our Lady of the Southern Cross College in Dalby was the second best for the region with an average score of 576.4, while St John’s School in Roma was the third best with an average score of 574.4.

To determine how each school performed in 2022, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Yr 5 or Yr 9) were combined and the average found.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
