North Burnett’s fastest growing schools – and the ones going backwards – have been revealed.

An analysis of federal government data has revealed every North Burnett region school’s student enrolment trajectory over the past five years – exposing where student numbers have risen and declined the most.

Monto State High School is North Burnett’s fastest growing school, with enrolments increasing by 34 per cent in the five years from 2018 to 2022.

The second fastest growing school was Abercorn State School with a 33 per cent change while Eidsvold State School recorded the third biggest change with a 30 per cent increase.

Meanwhile, the analysis also highlighted the North Burnett region’s schools in decline with Boynewood State School recording a 50 per cent drop over five years.

St Therese’s Catholic Primary School in Monto was the second school going backwards for enrolment with a 35 per cent drop and Binjour Plateau State School was the third with a 25 per cent decline.

The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority figures are the most up to date enrolment numbers that include all state and private schools nationally.

Schools with fastest growth between 2018 and 2022:

Monto State High School: 34 per cent

Abercorn State School: 33 per cent

Eidsvold State School: 30 per cent

Mundubbera State College: three per cent

Gayndah State School: two per cent

Schools in decline 2018-2022:

Boynewood State School: 50 per cent

St Therese’s Catholic Primary School: 35 per cent

Binjour Plateau State School: 25 per cent

St Joseph’s School: 19 per cent

Burnett State College: 18 per cent
