Fraser Coast Anglican College is once again the Fraser Coast’s top performing NAPLAN school.
An independent analysis of newly-released 2023 NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests.
Fraser Coast Anglican College, in Wondunna, had the best primary results than any other school in the Fraser Coast, scoring an average of 502.8 this year.
Bauple State School was the second best for the region with an average score of 491.2, while Star of the Sea Catholic School in Torquay was the third best with an average score of 484.0.
The top performing secondary school was Fraser Coast Anglican College, in Wondunna, where the average result was 581.8.
Principal Joe Wright said it was always pleasing to see the efforts of students and staff recognised publicly.
“A lot of work goes into helping students achieve their best,” he said.
“Our school certainly has a focus on excellence and high standards but what that looks like is trying to help every student do their best regardless of what score they gets.
“We spend as much time on the holistic development of our students because to be successful in a modern workforce, you need much more than good test scores.”
St Mary’s College - Maryborough was the second best for the region with an average score of 568.8, while Xavier Catholic College in Hervey Bay was the third best with an average score of 559.6.

To determine how each school performed in 2023, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Year 5 or Year 9) were combined and the average found.
Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.
The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
