Redeemer Lutheran College, which is on the border of Brisbane and Logan, has emerged as the top-performing school in the Logan area, securing the highest NAPLAN results across both primary and secondary levels.

An independent analysis of the newly-released NAPLAN results highlighted Redeemer’s exceptional performance, particularly in the Year 5 and Year 9 assessments.

At the primary level, Redeemer Lutheran College, which straddles Rochedale, achieved an average score of 541.6, outperforming all other schools in the region.

This result cemented the school’s reputation for excellence in literacy and numeracy.

Close behind at the primary level, Rochedale State School recorded an average score of 522.2, ranking second in Logan, while John Paul College in Daisy Hill rounded out the top three with an average score of 519.2.

At the secondary level, Redeemer Lutheran College again led the way, achieving an impressive average score of 623.6 for Year 9 students.

St Philomena School in Park Ridge ranked second with an average score of 616.0, and John Paul College claimed the third spot with 609.8.

Other schools making the top 10 in Logan for secondary education include Calvary Christian College (599.6), Canterbury College (598.8), and Rivermount College (574.6).

Notably, Rochedale State High School and Kimberley College, which once railed against NAPLAN, also demonstrated strong results, with average scores of 567.0 and 564.6, respectively.

It was also a big year for Windaroo Valley State High School which scored a respectable average of 536 with its highest subject, spelling, getting 556.

Principal Tracey Hopper said Windaroo Valley High had a continued commitment to building a strong academic learning culture with more than 88 per cent of students participating in NAPLAN this year.

“Our efforts are evident in the pleasing NAPLAN results,” Ms Hopper said.

“An emphasis on high expectations for all learners remains a focus of our school.”

The analysis of Logan’s top performers was based on the combined results of five key test subjects: reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and numeracy.

Each school’s average score was calculated by aggregating the results from Year 5 and Year 9 cohorts, providing a clear snapshot of academic achievement across the region.

The analysis excluded special schools, those with fewer than 20 enrolled students, and any institutions that did not report results for all NAPLAN subjects.

In the primary school category, Redeemer Lutheran College was followed by Rochedale State School and John Paul College, but there were several other notable performers.

St Peter’s Primary School achieved an average score of 507.8, while St Edward the Confessor School followed closely with 506.2.

Other high-performing primary schools in Logan included St Matthew’s School (502.8) and St Philomena School (499.8).
