Bundaberg’s fastest growing schools – and the ones going backwards – have been revealed.
An analysis of federal government data has revealed every Bundaberg region school’s student enrolment trajectory over the past five years – exposing where student numbers have risen and declined the most.
Oakwood State School in Oakwood is Bundaberg’s fastest growing school, with enrolments increasing by 59 per cent in the five years from 2018 to 2022.

The second fastest growing school was St John’s Lutheran Primary School in Bundaberg with a 36 per cent change while St Joseph’s School in Childers recorded the third biggest change with a 35 per cent increase.
Meanwhile, the analysis also highlighted the Bundaberg region’s schools in decline with Goodwood State School in Goodwood recording a 78 per cent drop over five years.
Lowmead State School in Lowmead was the second school going backwards for enrolment with a 44 per cent drop and Burnett Heads State School in Burnett Heads was the third with a 42 per cent decline.
The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority figures are the most up to date enrolment numbers that include all state and private schools nationally.

Oakwood State School: 59 per cent
St John’s Lutheran Primary School: 36 per cent
St Joseph’s School: 35 per cent
Kalkie State School: 28 per cent
St Luke’s Anglican School: 28 per cent
Bundaberg Christian College: 25 per cent
Rosedale State School: 16 per cent
Hope Adventist School: 12 per cent
Shalom College: 12 per cent
Alloway State School: 12 per cent

Goodwood State School: 78 per cent
Lowmead State School: 44 per cent
Burnett Heads State School: 42 per cent
Sharon State School: 37 per cent
McIlwraith State School: 37 per cent
Booyal Central State School: 36 per cent
Yandaran State School: 35 per cent
Kolan South State School: 35 per cent
Bundaberg East State School: 34 per cent
Wartburg State School: 33 per cent
