A private Moreton Bay school is investigating claims made by a student who says he was “pinned down” and sexually abused by three other boys while on a school camp.

The boy from Mueller College at Rothwell, who cannot be identified, says he was set upon by three boys on the school camp.

The student said the incident happened at the accommodation he was staying in while on the camp.

The incident prompted an internal investigation from the college and its principal said police had been “immediately” notified.

Speaking to The Courier-Mail, the student said he had been asleep when the boys “stripped the bed sheets” and sexually abused him with a broomstick.

“They tried to put the broomstick where it should not go,” the boy said.

The boy’s mother said her son had been forced to barricade himself in the room and later texted his parents to ask them if it was OK to defend himself.

“They sexually harassed him with it to the point he had to barricade himself inside,” she said.

“He was breaking down, texting us. ‘Am I allowed to fight them’?”

The mother described the Rothwell-based college as “fairly prestigious” – it has a cohort of about 1700.

Mueller College principal Paul Valese said the college “immediately” conducted an internal investigation following the incident.

Mr Valese said “where appropriate”, reports had been made to the Queensland Police Service and that it would support any investigation carried out.

“We were deeply concerned by allegations about an incident involving a number of students,” Mr Valese said.

“The students involved were dealt with in accordance with our student behaviour expectations and our policies. All parents were immediately informed and supportive of decisions made.

“Mueller College is a caring community, and the safety of every child is our most important priority.”

Mr Valese said the college had and would continue to provide pastoral care to the students involved.

The boy said he now faced the door when he slept, but was otherwise said he was not suffering any psychological trauma.

His mother however, feared he could have unforeseen issues.

“As a parent, maybe there has been an impact he can’t see yet, some underlying stuff,” she said.

The family this week said they made a formal statement with police.
