Rare beachfront home remains on the market after busy auction

An opportunity to snap up a rare waterfront property on the Sunshine Coast remains after being passed in at one of the largest auction turnouts its agent has seen in decades.

An extremely rare slice of beachfront paradise located on a picturesque stretch of the Sunshine Coast remains on the market despite a huge auction turn out.

Owned by one family since 1967, 13 Boolarong Crescent hit the market for the first time in 55 years but was passed in at $5.75 million on Saturday.

The three-bedroom, single storey home is on 745 square metres of prime waterfront land at Alexandra Headland, just 60 metres from the beach.

Sales agent Greg Young said the house offered the rare opportunity to secure one of the last single-dwellings on the beachfront in the lucrative suburb.

“It is a very rare property, there are only two houses left on the front at Alexandra Headland, the only other place on the Sunshine Coast you will get properties similar to this is at Sunshine Beach,” the Young Property Group chief executive officer said.

“We have had an enormous amount of interest, over 100 people attended the auction on the weekend, making it one of the biggest I’ve seen in 40 years selling houses in the area.”

Mr Young said the sellers were looking to get more than $5.75m.

He said the property would attract three types of buyers, people looking to move into the house as is, those hoping to renovate it into a dream home and developers looking to build units within the 12-metre height limit.

Mr Young said the Sunshine Coast region can expect to see fewer beachfront houses coming up for sale in the future.

“This really is the last of the properties, there is a house on the spit at Mooloolaba that is last remaining in that area and this is going to be the only house left on Alexandra Headland,” Mr Young said.

“Everyone who has come through the house has said it is their dream to live there, many have been surprised at how the road noise is very low and there is no risk you will be built out and lose that view.”
