There are no shortage of education technology tools focused on helping teachers engage students and save time.

And while these are being embraced by Australian teachers, the head of a major EdTech company says there appears to be a lack of focus on helping teachers where it really matters – improving student outcomes.

Education Perfect chief executive officer Jonathan Morgan says Australian teachers need access to platforms that can take off some of the load and supplement their teaching resources, and support them in implementing evidenced-based learning strategies and delivering more personalised approaches for students.

He says his company’s learning and assessment tools are now in more than half of Australian high schools.

“In today’s education landscape, teachers need an ally more than ever,” Mr Morgan said.

Education Perfect’s platform provides assessment tools and engaging curriculum-aligned content across a range of subjects, which enable teachers to easily track each student’s progress and implement personalised learning pathways to support each student.

“It is impossible for teachers in the current climate to personalise learning for every student in every class, every day,” Mr Morgan said.

“Teachers need tech that supports the teaching cycle, can track progress of each student, and then deliver learning to address gaps.

“This isn’t a replacement for teachers, but a tool to empower them to improve student outcomes.”

A survey by Education Perfect of 450 teachers across Australia and New Zealand last year found few teachers (13 per cent) strongly agree that their current teaching practices align with pedagogical best practice.

Rebecca Latham, assistant head of science at Arndell Anglican College, also noted the tool was a great tool to drive student growth,

“I love using EP to track my students’ progress and give them a little quiz at the end. Surprisingly, they love the challenge of getting a result over 90 per cent.”

Dorian Kipriotis, Dean of Learning at Rosebank College in Sydney, said the school had added Education Perfect tools to its suite of online learning tools to provide teachers and students with additional learning content closely aligned to syllabus outcomes.

“Education Perfect has been integrated into our suite of digital learning tools to enhance the delivery of curriculum content and support student learning. The detailed analytics available through EP also allows teachers to monitor student progress closely and intervene with appropriate support when needed, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve growth.

Jessica Sanderson Brewster, a teacher at Cabra Dominican College at Cumberland Park, said she was embracing EdTech tools.

“Education Perfect has been a fantastic learning tool for our students and teachers to engage with. It provides an interactive platform that supports diverse learning styles through multimedia content, quizzes and instant feedback,” she said.

“This adaptability allows teachers to personalise learning experiences, catering to the needs of each student. The Education Perfect team is very responsive and supportive, ensuring we can use the product to its full potential.”
