US politics live: Trump warns of ‘more arrests to come’

In a dark warning, Donald Trump has said he will crank up arrests but critics haves said he is trampling on free speech.

Donald Trump’s trade war continues to be met with retaliation this week.

Canada’s province of Ontario has confirmed it’s slapping a retaliatory 25 per cent surcharge on US bound electricity, while Chinese tariffs on US agricultural goods have now taken effect.

Outside of his trade war, Mr Trump has taken a surprising swipe at former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, as debate rages over Washington’s aggressive approach with rival superpowers.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk said X was hit by a “massive cyberattack” after thousands reported outages on the social media site.

Over in Saudi Arabia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has touched down in Jeddah for crucial talks between Ukrainian officials and Saudi and US representatives after his Oval Office clash with Donald Trump.
