Hollywood star Hugh Grant has been caught sleeping on camera while in the Royal Box at Wimbledon.

The Love Actually actor was seen nodding off at the match between 24-time Grand Slam champ Novak Djokovic and Italian Flavio Cobolli.

Grant sat in the Royal Box behind King Charles III’s wife Queen Camilla with his arms by his sides and head tilted down with sunglasses on.

ESPN’s Chris Fowler asked his commentating partner and former grand slam player John McEnroe: “Is he with us?”

The tennis legend said: “Looks like he could use a little wake up call. It’s a tiebreaker, tell him. Long way to go,” as the pair laughed on air.

Those who saw it on social media were furious, saying fans had been waiting to get into the tournament and it was “rude”.

“People have been queuing since 3am to get into Wimbledon to have a chance of being able to be at this match or even to watch it on the big screen in the grounds,” one user wrote on X.

“Hugh Grant slept through the tie break. Frankly, I think it is rude.”

BBC Sport commented in a post, “It’s all got a bit too much for Hugh Grant.”

“Did Hugh Grant just fall asleep in the Royal Box?”, another asked on X.

Many stars have sat in the Royual Box during the tournament, but King Frederik attended day eight of Wimbledon solo, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Roger Federer without Tasmanian born Queen Mary by his side.

The Danish King was given the honour of a prime seat in the Royal Box by the British royals who were represented by Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh on Monday local time (early Tuesday AEST).

While Kate has not yet shown up, her mother Carole Middleton was there on day eight and Fergie and Princess Beatrice were spotted in the Royal Box last week.

Mary did not go to Englad with Fred, however, the pair were together for much of the past week celebrating Denmark taking over the presidency of the European Union.

Queen Mary stunned in a red dress on the weekend as together with King Frederik they welcomed not only President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the Council of the European António Costa but also Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky on board the Danish Royal Ship Dannebrog as part of the festivities.
