Counter-terrorism police are leading an investigation into a “suspicious” fire at British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s house in north London.
There was damage to the Kentish Town property’s entrance but nobody was hurt, the Metropolitan Police said.
The PM, who loves at 10 Downing Street, is understood to still own the $4-million townhouse which has been rented out.
Police said counter-terrorism officers were leading the probe “as a precaution and due to the property having previous connections with a high-profile public figure”.
“The cause of the fire continues to be investigated but at this stage is being treated as suspicious,” police said.
Sir Keir thanked the emergency services for their work, his official spokesman said.
The fire came just hours before Sir Keir announced a crackdown on illegal immigrants. He said the UK risked becoming an “island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together” unless it introduces stricter immigration controls.
