Extraordinary drone footage has captured the moment a lone Ukrainian tank ambushes and destroys a convoy of Russian armoured vehicles, 80km from Kyiv.

The newly surfaced vision reveals the incredible positioning of the Ukrainian T-64 tank, as it appears to ambush several Russian BTR-82A armoured vehicles travelling in convey on a Nova Basan road, west of the capital.

In an amazing act of courage, the Ukrainian tank operator fires several rounds at the convoy from a concealed location at the back of a nearby house, navigating surrounding structures.

One of the Russian vehicles quickly bursts into flames, triggering the others to return fire, seemingly aiming towards an off-camera target.

The video shows the T-64, which appears to remain unseen by the Russian convoy, continue its attack against the outmanoeuvred Russians.

The footage then cuts to separate vision of a Ukrainian artillery strike against the convey as it attempts to flee, followed by a close up of the fiery wreckage of a Russian tank.

Published by a Ukrainian volunteer unit on Telegram, the vision is thought to have taken place last week, with Russian forces having retreated from locations around Kyiv over the weekend.

According to geolocation, the ambush took place along the HO7 highway which runs through Nova Basan, connecting Kyiv with the Western cities of Sumy and Kharkiv.

Ukraine’s armed forces continue to resist the invasion of Kremlin troops, retaking ‘key terrain’ around the capital and other eastern cities, as Putin’s forces shift their focus to the Donbas.

Britain’s Ministry of Defence said via an intelligence update that the scale of the damage would likely require many Russian units to significantly re-equip and refurbish before being ‘available to redeploy for operations in eastern Ukraine’.
