THE Glitter Strip is ready to giddy up this Melbourne Cup with events across the city celebrating the race that stops the nation.

Gold Coasters have a plethora of options with pubs and clubs providing experiences for the day and the 2pm race isn’t the only action on the track.

The Gold Coast Turf Club is opening its gates from 9am with its seven-race card starting at 12.29pm.

All hospitality packages are sold out but general admission tickets are $20.

The fashions on the field competition exclusive to the Glasshouse Fashion Luncheon will commence from noon with the finals for best-dressed female taking place after the Cup at

2.15pm.

The Red Bull DJ will be trackside from 1-4pm and a charity raffle will be on track fundraising for the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation.

Major Events Gold Coast supports the event and Mayor Tom Tate said he would see those letting their hair down on the day at the turf club.

“The 2021 program has been extended to ensure the best on-track action as well as all the colour and energy of race day fashion,” he said.

“Let’s ensure our Melbourne Cup Day at Aquis Park is the only place to be on Cup Day.”

Burleigh Pavilion will be holding its own fashions on the field hosted by Married at First Sight contestant Ryan Gallagher, along with the races on its large screens and a three-course menu from $99.

All events at The Star Gold Coast have sold out along with the Southport Sharks Aviary Rooftop Bar.

Punters also wanting a classy experience can go to Palazzo Versace for $215 per person.

The Sheraton Grand Mirage and Bine Bar and Dining will be kicking off their events from midday.

Food and beverage packages are also on sale at The Cavill Hotel, The Island and Pink Flamingo, while The Loose Moose are hosting an after-party.
