A warrant has been issued for the arrest of quadruple murderer Ljube Velevski a week after he was released from prison.

Velevski was found guilty in 1997 of killing his 25-year-old wife Snezana, their six-year-old daughter Zaklina, and three-month-old twins Daniela and Dijana in June 1994.

A jury determined he slashed their throats, then stacked the bodies on top of each other in a locked bedroom. The murder weapon was also found with the bodies.

He was freed from prison last week, but has already failed to meet his obligations under the Child Protection Register, a source confirmed to News Corp.

“He had seven days to report and today is day eight,” a police source said.

Velevski brutally murdered his family after his wife threatened to leave him during a heated argument, the NSW Supreme Court heard during his eight-week trial.

He was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for four counts of murder, with a minimum of 19 years to be served.

During his six-year parole period, Velevski never applied for release.

A statement from the State Parole Authority confirmed he had not shown any remorse while behind bars or engaged in any rehabilitation.

“Reports confirm that since entering custody, the offender has not engaged in any programs to address his violent offending, refuses to participate in any assessments requested by Community Corrections and declines to be interviewed by the Serious Offenders Review Council,” a statement read in 2020.

A Department of Communities and Justice spokesperson said Velevski was “legally entitled to full liberty” because he had completed his full prison sentence.

“There is a robust, thorough and lengthy process that involves a number of committees, and commences up to six years before release, in determining whether an offender is suitable for an extended supervision order or a continuing detention order application under the high risk offender legislation,” they said.

“This includes a risk assessment report prepared by a psychologist and an assessment by Corrective Services’ High Risk Offender Assessment Committee.

“Following consideration of the assessments and advice relevant to the legislation, it was determined there were no prospects of success for an application for an extended supervision order or a continuing detention order.”

Victim Support Unit chief executive Kerrie Thompson said the 25-year sentence had been grossly inadequate.

“He took four innocent lives in the most horrendous manner, and his lack of remorse is chilling,” she said.

“His constant refusal to engage in rehabilitation programs or with the serious offender review council is a clear indication of his lack of remorse.

“There has been no indication of empathy shown for his victims, no guilt and no responsibility taken for the pain he has caused.

“This speaks to a lack of insight, and for him to be released without supervision or monitoring puts the community at risk.”
