Koah resident Zepp Maxfield said he was able to get to Barron Falls on December 14 about 10.30am.

“I hiked down the Barron to the weir rock face and then down past the railway lookout,” he said.

“It was very spectacular although a very unstable environment so I had to be very alert and cautious.

“It was fascinating to see it so close and with so much force,” he said.

“It’s such a beautiful and humbling experience, it’s a great reminder humans will never be superior to mother nature.”

The Bureau of Meteorology has a flood warning for the Barron River issued on Friday.

Rain of up to 600mm has been recorded in the catchment since 9am on December 13.

Elevated river levels and minor to major flooding is occurring downstream of Tinaroo Dam to Barron Falls.

The Barron River at Kamerunga Bridge is likely to remain above the minor flood level (5.00 m) into Friday afternoon.
