Woman forced to jump from balcony to escape home fire in Forster Court in Bentleigh East

A woman in the 40s has been forced to leap from a balcony after fire tore through a home in Melbourne’s southeast, trapping three people.

A woman has been forced to jump from a balcony after fire tore through a home in Melbourne’s southeast.

Fire Rescue Victoria crews arrived at the two-storey home on Forster Court in Bentleigh East just after midnight to find flames spreading from the ground floor up.

Three occupants were trapped in the building including a woman, aged in her 40s, who called for help from a first-floor balcony.

She was forced to leap from the balcony to escape the blaze.

Firefighters evacuated five people from the building including three who were trapped.

The woman who jumped from the balcony and a girl in her teens were treated on the scene by paramedics and transported to the Alfred Hospital in stable conditions.

FRV is investigating the cause of the fire.
