Teal MP Zoe Daniel has been referred to the national corruption watchdog over allegations she misused taxpayer-funded resources.

Former Liberal MP Jason Falinski this week requested that the Member for Goldstein be investigated by the National Anti-Corruption Commission following reports that one of her staff asked for Climate 200 founder Simon Holmes a Court not to be included in the Australian Financial Review’s 2024 power list.

Teal MP Allegra Spender, as well as a spokeswoman for Climate 200, are reported to have made the same requests to the publication.

In a letter seen by the Herald Sun, Mr Falinski claimed there had been a “violation of public trust”.

“If this reporting is accurate, then there has been a misuse of taxpayer-funded resources, specifically involving Ms. Daniel’s staff, who are alleged to have been engaged in lobbying efforts on behalf of her donors,” he wrote.

“The allegations suggest that members of her parliamentary staff, who are publicly funded to assist with her official duties, may have been used to support the interests of private donors rather than performing the roles for which they are employed.

“This would constitute a potential breach of ethical and legal obligations governing the proper use of taxpayer funded resources, as outlined in the Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017 and related guidelines.”

Ms Daniel’s spokeswoman on Thursday night said she hadn’t heard or seen anything from the NACC.
