A speed camera vehicle was attacked by a group of men while it was parked in Coburg.
Five men smashed the vehicle about 1am on Friday on Nicholson St.
The alleged offenders jumped on the car and threw items to break the windows before they fled.
The 36 year old male camera operator from St Albans was able to drive away from the scene and suffered only minor injuries.
Police are investigating the incident.
The attack comes amid ongoing strike action between mobile speed camera drivers and its operator, Serco.
Further strike action is expected to take place on Friday and Saturday, with employees instructed to walk off the job for two hours on each of the days.
On Sunday, camera operators will also be told to stop work for eight hours as tensions between the worker’s union and Serco continue to simmer.
Workers are arguing for more safety measures to be in place after a spate of recent attacks, while bargaining for a further wage increase to combat the cost of living pressures.
So far, over 1500 hours of work has been lost in the stalemate.
Any witnesses, anyone with vision or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
