Two prison officers have been bashed by an enraged bikie at a maximum security Melbourne prison.
The Herald Sun has been told the pair were left unconscious when the outlaw motorcycle gang member launched his attack at the Metropolitan Remand Centre at Ravenhall on Saturday.
Both officers were knocked to the ground and stomped on during the onslaught, described by a source as horrific.
They were taken to hospital with what one source said were serious injuries.
MRC was last night in lockdown in the incident’s aftermath.
The attack happened in the Exford management unit, where prisoners are under tight security and do not have as much access as in other units.
The source said the attacker had been moved from the Charlotte section of Port Phillip Prison in recent weeks.
That was allegedly after he tried to incite other prisoners to attack staff at that jail.
The Herald Sun has been told officials from the Community and Public Sector Union have been called in and that MRC is unlikely to open tomorrow.
