One arrested, one alleged offender on the run after a man in his 40s was stabbed to death in Ascot Vale
A teenager has been arrested and another alleged offender is on the run after a man was fatally stabbed at a busy intersection in the city’s northwest.
A man has been stabbed and killed in Melbourne’s northwest on Sunday afternoon.
Officers located a man with injuries consistent with stab wounds on Maribyrnong Rd and Union Rd in Ascot Vale about 3.45pm.
The man in his 40s, who is yet-to-be-formally identified, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he sadly died.
The two alleged offenders fled the scene prior to police arrival, but an 18-year-old man was arrested on Ascot Street just after about 4pm.
Police were on Sunday night patrolling the area searching for the second alleged offender.
Highway patrol officers directed traffic away from the intersection at Union Rd and Maribyrnong Rd.
Some officers were seen speaking with members of the public.
