Police have seized drugs, designer clothing, knuckle dusters and cash after arresting six people allegedly involved in a drug syndicate linked to several street gangs.
Detectives from the state’s gang crime squad arrested and charged six men aged between 20 and 53 for a raft of offences including trafficking drugs, possessing drugs, weapons and proceeds of crime.
The arrests follow sweeping raids in Melbourne’s north west including homes in Caroline Springs, Avondale Heights, Maidstone, Aintree and St Albans.
On January 24 police arrested four people outside a commercial premises in St Albans.
A 21-year-old Caroline Springs man was charged with traffic cocaine, possess cocaine and possess proceeds of court.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on April 24.
A 27-year-old Avondale Heights was charged with traffic cocaine, possess cocaine, possess proceeds of crime and possess controlled weapon.
He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on April 24.
A 25-year-old Rockbank man and a 28-year-old Truganina man were interviewed in relation to drug and weapons offences but were released pending further inquiries.
Police seized a number of items from the men’s vehicles including cocaine, cash and weapons including a baton, knuckle dusters and a flick knife.
On January 27 detectives executed a number of search warrants at properties in Caroline Springs, Avondale Heights, Maidstone, Aintree and St Albans.
A 53-year-old Rockbank man was arrested and charged with cultivate cannabis and possess cannabis.
He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on April 9.
Detectives also seized methylamphetamine, GHB, cannabis, cash and high-end clothing during the warrants.
On Wednesday police arrested a 20-year-old St Albans man, who was charged with traffic cocaine, possess methylamphetamine, possess GHB and possess proceeds of crime.
He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 23.
The investigation is ongoing.
