Collingwood footballer Jordan De Goey wants the AFL to hand over all documents relating to its probe of allegations of sexual assault levelled against the star player in 2018.

De Goey is facing one count of indecent assault over an alleged incident in Melbourne’s leafy suburb of Kew in 2015.

The Magpies player was initially investigated by the league’s integrity unit in 2018 but no charges were laid at the time.

Victoria Police, however, slapped De Goey and another 24-year-old male with fresh charges in July last year.

In a brief hearing before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday, De Goey’s lawyer, Tony Hargreaves, said the defence had requested the AFL hand over any material relating to their internal investigation – in particular, a video taped interview with the alleged victim.

De Goey is also seeking all communications between the woman and the AFL, as well as another witness who was spoken to about the matter in 2018.

Mr Hargreaves said the head of the AFL’s integrity unit, Tony Keane, reportedly had “no problem” releasing the video and further documents to De Goey’s legal team, but was on leave until Wednesday.

Magistrate Peter Reardon adjourned the matter for seven days.

De Goey, who is on bail, did not appear for the short hearing.

He will next front court at a contest mention on February 22.
