The Big Freeze is getting a big boost as Neale Daniher ramps up his fight to find a cure for motor neurone disease (MND).
The footy legend’s FightMND charity has set a goal to raise $2 million by halftime in the Queen’s Birthday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood.
“We need to move quickly — the time is now to help beat ‘the beast’ and we need our army to make the last few days before the big game really count,’’ Daniher said.
“My family and I have been fighting this beast for seven years, but we haven’t done it alone.
“If you’ve been thinking about joining us, now is the time. Let’s notch that target by the long break in the footy. Without your help we won’t find a cure.”
FightMND campaign director Bec Daniher said: “What an amazing thing it would be to be able to achieve this total and make it a famous $2 million raised by half time in the Big Freeze clash”.
“The impact that would have on our funding of research and the quest for a cure would be enormous,’’ she said.
Donations and sales from beanies at Coles, Coles Express and Bunnings all count towards the $2m goal.
