Five teenage boys arrested after alleged crime spree, aggravated carjacking in Melbourne’s east

A 13-year-old boy is among five teenagers accused of threatening a driver with a knife during a violent carjacking and violently ambushing three service stations in Melbourne’s east.

A 13-year-old boy is among five teenagers accused of threatening a driver with a knife and violently ambushing three service stations in the eastern suburbs.

Police allege the crew, aged between 13 and 16, attempted to rob a Bayswater Rd petrol station in Bayswater before they were disturbed by a worker about 9.25pm on Monday.

The teenagers are then accused of a second aggravated burglary at a Dorset Rd service station in Croydon where cigarettes were allegedly stolen just five minutes later.

Smokes were allegedly stolen during a third aggravated burglary at a Mount Dandenong Rd petrol station in Croydon about 9.40pm.

The white Range Rover Discovery, which had been stolen from Elwood, was tracked by police in the air and on the ground from Glen Waverley to Wantirna.

It was dumped at the intersection of Stud and Boronia roads about 11.15pm before the boys allegedly targeted a second vehicle.

A knife was allegedly used to threaten the driver of a Ford Focus before that vehicle was stolen by the gang of youths.

The driver of the Ford was not physically injured.

The boys are then accused of fleeing that scene in the victim’s Ford before stop sticks were deployed by police in Mont Albert North.

It came to a stop before the five teenagers allegedly fled on foot but were all arrested nearby.

Detectives on Tuesday charged four boys from the southeastern suburbs.

They are aged 13, 14, 15 and 16.

A 15-year-old boy was also taken into custody.

The eldest of the group was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before he was taken back to the police station.

The five teenagers have all been charged with aggravated carjacking, aggravated burglary and theft.

They will face a children’s court on Tuesday.

No one was injured during the alleged aggravated burglaries.
