Commuters faced a long drive home on the Monash Fwy on Wednesday night after a major multi-vehicle crash.
A truck driver was left critically injured after crashing into a centre median strip near Huntingdale Rd about 2.20pm.
All outbound lanes of the Monash Freeway are closed between Warrigal Road and Forster Road, due to a collision and light pole down. Significant delays of up to an hour are back to Toorak Road. Exit early and use Dandenong Road. #victrafficpic.twitter.com/LvlfALhivo

The driver’s condition later improved to stable on Wednesday night.
Traffic operators said the truck hit three other vehicles and brought down a light pole during the incident, which blocked multiple lanes.
“A man in his 50s was transported by road ambulance to the Alfred in a critical condition,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.
The truck’s fuel tank also ruptured during the collision, causing a fuel spill across the road.
On Wednesday night, two outbound lanes were reopened between Warrigal and Forster Roads.
Three lanes were closed at the crash site just before Forster Road while crews completed the clean up.
The Department of Transport and Planning said the significant delays from the Burnley Tunnel would continue for some time and that lanes would only be be re-opened once it was deemed safe to do so.
Extra congestion should also be expected for some time along Warrigal Road and Dandenong Road through Chadstone and Malvern East.
Video from a passerby showed at least three fire trucks at the scene, with the light pole laying across the three lanes.
A number of the firefighters could be seen with shovels appearing to be working on containing the spill.
