A beloved country hotel known for its eccentric spirit and hearty pub meals is set to shut its doors within weeks.
The Radio Springs Hotel Lyonville near Daylesford has regularly featured in Victoria’s best country pub lists, adored by locals and visitors for its friendly service and hearty meals.
Just over an hour out of Melbourne, customers called it a “step-back-in-time experience like no other” — each of its dining rooms different, decked out with period knick-knacks and even its very own mini movie cinema.
But locals were left devastated on Wednesday when management announced the Hotel would be serving up its famous roasted pork belly and Guinness pies for the last time this weekend.
The operators took to Facebook to share the news just days after advertising that they were on the hunt for new kitchen staff.
“We reopened last weekend looking forward to 2025,” the post read.
“However during this week our circumstances have changed considerably and we are announcing that this weekend will be the last for our kitchen, which will close at end of service this Sunday.”
While the kitchen will wrap up its pub meals this Sunday, the Radio Springs Hotel team plan to keep the bar open for final goodbyes until they “drain the kegs”.
“For the Australia Day weekend we will still offer accommodation and the bar will be open,” the team wrote.
“Please come say goodbye and join us for last drinks.”
Customers were quick to flood the Hotel team with well wishes, calling the pub a “magical spot” and thanking the team for championing live music during their time in business.
“What a place you’ve provided for the community and beyond,” one wrote.
“There simply will be no one that can replicate this treasure,” another said.
“We’ve been so lucky to have had you at the centre of our universe.”
The Radio Springs Hotel has been contacted for comment.
