Rumours surrounding a Darwin cricket club folding have been quashed.

University Bulls Cricket Club president has gone on record to reassure the club’s members and supporters that his club is here to stay.

“We have big plans for the future and they definitely do not include folding,” Aayush Sapkota said.

“I’m not sure where those rumours started or came from but they are not true.”

Speculation of the club’s demise popped up on a local cricket Facebook page on Friday December 29.

The post read: “Rumours are circulating that University Bulls Cricket Club has folded and that Waratah Warriors Cricket Club are in talks to take over the CDU facility.”

The club has experienced recent success with their D-grade Men’s team winning the 2022 premiership.

Sapkota expressed his desire for the club to continue its winning ways and growth.

“Plans are in the works and they will only make us bigger and better,” he said.

“We’re a small club, with four senior sides.

“We are always looking for more volunteers and players and I encourage anyone who wants to join us.

“We are a multicultural club, we are very welcoming and we all absolutely love our cricket.”
