Police have charged two teenage boys after allegedly driving two stolen cars on the Gold Coast.

A convoy of kids – allegedly in stolen cars – have led police on a dangerous dash across the Gold Coast spanning several hours and multiple suburbs.

Officer were alerted to the three vehicles on the M1 about 10.30pm on Sunday near Varsity Lakes.

“They were travelling north,” Gold Coast Acting Superintendent Michelle Piket said.

“One of the stolen vehicles was located at Nerang with no offenders.”

The red Mazda CX3 was seized by police and towed from the scene.

For two hours officers tracked another vehicle from the convoy – a high powered Porsche Macan – as it drove dangerously across the city. It was stung by tyre spikes on the Smith Street Motorway near Olsen Ave, Arundel at about 12.30pm but allegedly continued to evade police for another 15 minutes.

“This vehicle eventually stopped in Admiralty Drive at Surfers Paradise, where two offenders were arrested,” Acting Supt Piket said.

“A 15-year-old male driver of that vehicle. He’s been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. And the 13 year old passenger was also charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.”

Acting Supt Piket said she was unable to say if the juveniles were known to police but confirmed the boys from Pimpama and Elanora were refused bail to face Southport Children’s Court on Monday morning.
