World renowned artist Garry Orriss heals past struggles riding around Australia on an Aldi bicycle

A PRIZED artist is drawing inspiration from Townsville while he tweaks his first film script and reflects on his past life struggles.
Australian-born Garry Orriss has spent the past 3½ years travelling Australia on his Aldi bicycle.
He has travelled 14,300km across the nation filming his own movie entitled The Long Road; His and Her Story and writing two books.
Orriss said the film revolved around a love story that sours and was an ode to life lessons.
“(The film) will be mixed with highway art, creating scenarios and performance.”
The 53-year-old has owned art galleries in Sydney, Seattle and Berlin and has won 40 international art prizes.
Orriss battled with alcoholism for 20 years while living in Germany.
He said he came to Australia to change his life and has celebrated 900 days of sobriety.
