MULTIPLE people have been involved in a two car crash at a busy Townsville intersection.
Paramedics were called to the intersection of Woolcock and Sturt Sts at 11.07am to reports two cars has crashed in the wet weather.
It is understood those involved suffered minor injuries.
Police issued a warning to Townsville drivers on Wednesday morning asking them to drive safe in the wet weather.
Police advised people to alter their driving behaviour to the road conditions, to heed road closure signs following heavy rainfall and to be aware of emergency service and traffic control vehicles.
- Avoid flooded roads, creeks and watercourses. Road closures and road conditions can change rapidly as creeks and water courses can rise and fall quickly.
- Ensure at all times you obey road closure signs and travel with extreme caution and also limit non-essential travel in flood affected areas where possible.
- Remember the unpredictable nature of flood waters, the dangers associated with storm debris and road washouts.
- Police are also reminding the public it is extremely dangerous to play in flood waters. What might seem like a bit of fun can quickly turn into a tragedy, and further, would endanger any emergency services who respond to calls for rescue.
