TPI Association Townsville donates almost $5000 to Townsville Children’s Ward

Townsville University Hospital has been given a community boost to upgrade emergency facilities to save little lives.

The children’s ward has been like a second home to Connor McCabe and his mum.

The toddler was born with two heart defects and had to spend the whole first 12 months of his life having life-saving treatment and operations.

Connor is now able to live at home although will need ongoing treatment.

The two-year-old and his mum Bianca Burns were back at the Townsville University Hospital this week, however, to help the children’s ward accept a generous donation from the Totally Permanently Incapacitated Association Townsville which raised $4874.35 over 20 months.

Townsville Hospital Foundation CEO Tanya Busoli said the donation would assist an important refurbishment of facilities.

“This year we are raising funds to make the Emergency Department at Townsville University Hospital more child-friendly,” she said.

“These funds will go directly towards this important project.”
