Year 12 students are rejoicing at the news they will be able to dance at their formals.

COVID-19 restrictions across Queensland were eased yesterday, adding to the excitement for many Townsville students about to finish school this year.

Pimlico State High School students Charlotte McDonnell, 17, and Alexander Browning, 17, planned on going to their formal together and were excited their end of school celebration would be able to go ahead.

“When COVID hit it was really sad for everyone because we didn’t know how it would pan out,” Charlotte said.

“Ever since I was a little girl I dreamt of dancing at my school formal.”

She expects to whip out classic Nutbush and Macarena dance moves on November 18 at Pimlico’s formal at Townsville Stadium.

Alex said being able to dance would make it feel like “a proper formal experience”.

In the latest easing of restrictions, up to 40 people can dance at weddings and aged care residents are allowed to go on excursions again.
